Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM Experience: • 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months. • Must have at least 24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience. • Travel experience is required from any number of months. • 3 months of experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months. Requirements: • Candidates must have a Maine license or compact license (required for submission). • This role will require floating to multiple units • Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >100 miles from facility to be submitted. • Flu vaccination required for submission. Medical declinations accepted. Pre-employment modules may be required for this role. Additional Details: Housing in ME becomes more expensive in the summer months, beginning in May. Be sure to confirm you are comfortable with housing options before applying. Roles requiring state licensure only: License should not expire within 45 days following start date. Travel Pairs: If you are in a relationship, EMMC will not schedule you on the same days. If you are not in a relationship, you can be scheduled for the same days if not on the same shift/unit. Managers will not guarantee the same schedule for travel pairs. Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other; occasionally back-to-back weekends – flexibility is key. Holiday Expectations: manager approval Required Skills/Experience: Please ask all travelers about charge experience and include in the offer info if they have/have not worked in a CRN capacity. Telemetry experience (Cardiac rhythm interpretation) – will not transport patient on Tele but must be able to verify/interpret strips on the unit. General post-surgical experience is a MUST. Vascular surgical patients comprise a large portion of our patient population. This person would need to have the basic knowledge of what to look at and for (assessment-wise) with this type of patient. Ortho post-op (total joints, ORIF) experience is preferred, peripheral IV starts, tube feedings, TPN, Trach Care, Chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, drain management and removal (JP, Accordian), dressing changes, wound vacs. Comfortability to discontinue non-tunneled catheters, will wean patients off Epidural pump per order set, PCAs. Heparin Drips, Insulin Drips; NO cardiac drips or cardiac push meds Required Credentials: Basic EKG certification (ability to read/interpret cardiac rhythm strips) Types of Patients on Unit: Bariatric: Gastric Bypass, Gastric sleeve. Vascular Surgeries: carotid endarterectomies, femoral endarterectomies, amputations, AAA repair, peripheral artery bypass grafts, fem-pop bypass. Urology: TURP, cysto, cystectomy, penectomy, nephrectomy, ureteral stents. General/GI: mastectomy, breast reduction; hemicolectomies, exploratory laps, bowel resection, cholecystectomy, colorectal surgeries; whipples. Ortho: total joint, ORIF, external fixation, Ortho Trauma. ENT: parotidectomy, neck dissection, and thyroidectomy. Plastics: muscle flaps, skin grafts. Neurosurgery: spinal fusions, laminectomies, craniotomies.
