And we invite you to experience it with us! Overview: The Engineering Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. In the absence of the Director, the Engineering Manager will assume the administrative, financial and operating aspects of the hotel as they relate to engineering. Responsibilities: Provide the highest quality of service to the customer at all timesDeal promptly and efficiently with guest complaints and needsHave a thorough knowledge of emergency and safety proceduresRespond to all emergency situations and be prepared to assistResponsible for the ordering of supplies, tools and equipment and maintaining proper par levels to corporate department standards.This role will support, maintain and implement the department’s BOH preventive maintenance program.Assist with other duties as assigned and serve as “Building Manager” as required while maintaining and repairing the interior and exterior of the building.Will be required to represent and support the Chief Engineer in his absence confidently on all levels to ownership, corporate executive leadership, contractors or other department heads.Create and implement a PM program for the back of the house areasCreate and implement a PM program for the mechanical equipment in the buildingReview, adhere, and understand all safety procedures (such as LOTO)Perform maintenance checks of equipment and logs properlyAttend Daily Operations MeetingSupervise and train all Engineering staff in Customer Service, Empowerment, Standard Operating Procedures and Loss PreventionEnsure cleanliness and orderliness of all workspaces, shops, and storage areasTrain and Supervise to Building Managers on daily, weekly, monthly and yearly duties and responsibilitiesEvaluate to Building Managers as necessary – Coordinate with HRMaintain and obtain all licenses as needed by the NYC, NY State and other Government agencies needed for the buildingStaff and direct the performance of the staff and follow-up with corrective action when neededAdhere to all work rules, procedures, polices established by the company, including but not limited to those contained in the employee handbookExperience with union issues.Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds and other assets in a safe and acceptable state of repair.Ensure the hotel is in compliance with all local, state and federal laws.Ensure all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested and certified per Highgate Hotel standards.Actively participate in energy conservation programs.Follow up on all alarms immediately to determine the exact location and cause. Determine emergency status and report findings to Front Desk. Take immediate action as necessary.Support and participate in all Highgate Hotel programs.Lead and/or participate in Highgate Hotel Safety Committee. Qualifications: At least 3 years of supervisory or lead mechanic experience in a hotel or a related field; or a technical certificate with at least 1 year of supervisory or lead mechanic experience.Stationary engineer’s license if required by local code.HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills requiredHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredLong hours sometimes required.Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags.Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.Perform other duties as requested by management.Certificate of Qualification - Refrigeration EngineerCertificate of Fitness – Standpipe Fire Pump Hi-riseCertificate of Fitness – Supervise Low PSI Oil BurnerCertificate of Fitness – Citywide Sprinkler SystemsCertificate of Fitness – Combination Citywide Standpipe and Sprinkler Systems with Gravity TankCertificate of Fitness – Maintain Inside Alarm SystemCertificate of Fitness – Air CompressorsCooling Tower & Close Loop Water Treatment Certificate
