The ORT has knowledge and skill in maintaining the sterile field, interacting with the surgical team to obtain and deliver necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment in an efficient and timely manner. The ORT properly cares for instrumentation both during and after the case, including proper decontamination and proper care and return of equipment and supplies. The ORT has the ability to observe and obtain information, understand the range of treatment needed by the patients, and report significant findings to the appropriate team members to ensure that the appropriate care is provided to each patient on an individualized basis. The ORT reports directly to the Clinical Manager of Surgical Services. The ORT ensures that all services are delivered in accordance with the mission statement and SPIRIT values of Carroll Hospital.
