Subtstation Senior Project Manager

Description Leidos Engineering has an opportunity in the Chicago area for a Senior Project Manager II (Sr PM II) who will work alongside lead engineers and account managers supporting substation engineering projects for various electric utility clients in the Central and Midwestern United States. The PM will be part of an established team within our Power Delivery Solutions (PDS) division. PDS provides consulting services to public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities for comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission, substation, and distribution projects nationwide.This position has remote working capabilities, but will require local & regional travel to client offices and project sites. This allows us to best serve our localized utility clients as needed. Therefore, candidates should be located in or adjacent to the greater Chicago area in order to be considered. Monetary relocation assistance is not available for this position.As a valued team member, you can look forward to a fast paced, diverse work environment and flexible work hours/work arrangements, as well as managers who will encourage career development and growth opportunities, including:Project Management Professional (PMP) Formal Mentorship programsDevelopmental Leadership trainingTechnical Upskilling Oppportunities Management opportunities  Responsibilities:Lead a team of project managers to deliver comprehensive engineering design projects for electric utility clientsTake ownership of overall portfolio performance, including cost, schedule, and scope managementDrive strategic initiatives within the organization, focusing on process improvements and operational efficienciesMentor and develop project management staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learningInterface with clients and internal stakeholders to address issues, report progress, and mitigate risks across the project portfolioOversee the preparation of bid documents, cost estimates, and responses to Requests For ProposalManage monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable processesIdentify and pursue business development opportunities to support organizational growthEnsure compliance with contract requirements and quality control standardsMaintain regular communication with stakeholders, including clients, project teams, subcontractors, and support personnelIdentify project risks and mitigation strategiesTravel locally and regionally as needed (roughly ~15%) in order to support the needs of our clientsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance or related field required8+ years of progressive Project Management experience in the electric power industry, or associated field OR 6+ years with a Master's DegreeDemonstrated Experience working with US Electric Utilities, and a comprehensive understanding of electric power and infrastructure projectsDirect experience working with electric power infrastructure projectsDirect experience working with bid proposals and cost estimatesProficiency in project management software (e.g., Workfront, MS Project, P6) and MS Office SuiteStrong leadership skills with a focus on portfolio management and team developmentExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to travel periodically as requiredPreferred Experience/Quaifications:PMP Certification or willingness to obtain within two yearsPrior experience in a leadership positionDemonstrated success in leading cross-functional teamsPrevious experience working in a consulting environmentExperience with PowerBI and/or visualization toolsPlease Note that Sponsorship and other immigration related monetary benefits are not available for this position. The estimated pay range for this position is approximately 135-155k, depending on candidate qualifications, experience & aptitude.
