R&D- Group Leader

This Group Leader position in our Coil division will be responsible for a variety of exciting activities related to managing the Building Products segment priorities and projects, troubleshooting, and executing on development plans for the team.Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. Please be aware, Sherwin-Williams recruiting team members will never request a candidate to provide a payment, ask for financial information, or sensitive personal information like national identification numbers, date of birth, or bank account numbers during the application process.•    Supervises laboratory staff including hiring, training, evaluating performance, providing compensation recommendations, and performance management.•    Manages maintenance of business, new business opportunities, and personnel who analyze, test, and develop new or updated formulas; will perform tasks that require comprehensive understanding of chemistry, product lines, and materials.•    Assists with developing project objectives, which includes proposed budgets, timelines, materials, personnel, and other project requirements, receives direction and presents information to management.•    Reviews and evaluates project reports, analyses, and data to ensure conformity with project objectives, determines corrective action and implements changes, receives direction on complex or unique circumstances.•    Serves as a member of project and business teams and assists with developing specific sales, production, research, and related team objectives.    •    Oversees and/or serves as the primary contact for highly technical and complex questions and concerns from plants, research professionals, quality control, customers, and other internal and external parties regarding liquid coating technology platforms. Presents technology, product, and application information to internal and external customers.•    Reads and interprets patents, examines new product concepts and technology, and determines how to improve or utilize technology to develop future product lines.  •    Interprets and applies department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations; ensures compliance with these areas. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS•    Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).•    Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.  •    Must be at least 18 years of age.•    3+ years of experience in coating application and formulation.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS•    5+ years of experience in coating application and formulation•    Prior experience managing and leading other preferred.•    Interpreting and applying department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations•    Applying comprehensive application methods and procedures•    Applying chemistry principles and practices; including formulation of liquid coating•    Interpreting data and developing reports; including reading and interpreting patents•    Communicating technical information•    Prior record of successful customer interaction and commercialization principles and practices•    Advanced PC skills; including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and statistical software, such as Minitab•    Training and/or experience with Lean Six Sigma and Stage Gate Processes; proven record of implementation of statistical process control Travel Requirements: 10% This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H-1B visa.
