The Sherwin Williams (SW) Product Stewardship Team is responsible for managing global product regulatory compliance. The team collaborates with and supports compliance activities for all SW global businesses and functional groups to manufacture and sell compliant and safe products across all regions. Please be aware, Sherwin-Williams recruiting team members will never request a candidate to provide a payment, ask for financial information, or sensitive personal information like national identification numbers, date of birth, or bank account numbers during the application process.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: (1) REGULATORY COMPLIANCE: In partnership with regulatory subject matter experts, evaluate new or changing regulations and articulate regulatory requirements which impact raw materials and finished goods across systems. Identify varying regulatory requirements by product type or region and act as an internal expert to advise how/why regulatory data differ or conflict. Map regulatory business processes and data between source systems. Work within the Product Stewardship Team and with IT to assess product data availability challenges, evaluate options, and determine technology approaches to access, monitor and retrieve global SW data. Partner with department team leads and manager to determine and clarify business data, project, and reporting needs. Translate project, data, and reporting needs into well-defined business requirements. (2) CUSTOMER SUPPORT: Respond routinely to internal and external customer inquiries which are non-routine or complex. Represent functional area in project meetings and lead follow-up efforts to drive action items to completion. Monitor and articulate data and systems issues which will impact SW products or our customers. Respond to Agency inquiries with legal review. Translate ad-hoc, new and existing reporting/query requirements into actionable requirements leveraging BI applications and tools like Tableau. Participate in data/system/reporting testing as needed for department or enterprise-wide projects, system upgrades, etc. Support manager with departmental project organization and prioritization activities and lead prioritization efforts or meetings where appropriate. Where appropriate, present information or provide training on new/changing regulations to internal SW customers. (3) CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Assist in defining process, data or system changes necessary to address new or changing regulations. Provide training on regulatory systems for new team members or other groups within SW. Partner with manager and department to create and publish status reporting for in-flight projects. Monitor department projects and their outcomes for effectiveness and propose process improvements as necessary. Partner with the team leads to facilitate the enrichment of product or raw material data where necessary to support departmental business and project needs. Participate in and/or lead data clean-up and/or validation activities, with an emphasis on data integrity and data governance of Product Stewardship owned data attributes across systems. Improve Product Stewardship reporting and reporting mechanisms to streamline data retrieval. Convert to newer BI reporting approaches as necessary. Make recommendations for and drive departmental continuous improvement projects to improve data access, data integrity, or data enrichment as needed. Partner with manager on development of business practices and procedures that properly manage the full data life cycle needs of Product Stewardship with a focus on cross-functional and regional improvements. Seek out and apply new technologies and skills for regulation analysis and compliance reporting improvements in daily work through conferences, online training, reading, and participation in organizations and user groups. “Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and business relationships.” POSITION REQUIREMENTS: FORMAL EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the physical sciences (chemistry, biology, geology, etc.), the environmental sciences (toxicology, industrial hygiene, etc.), engineering or other STEM (computer science, mathematics, etc.). Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from an accredited institution PMP (Project Management Professional) KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required: 5+ years’ experience in product stewardship or regulatory affairs Experience managing raw material and finished good regulatory data 3+ years of systems and data governance or IT experience in a product stewardship or regulatory affairs environment. Proven experience working directly with business analysts or business sponsors to gather and validate functional business requirements into actionable project requirements. Strong initiative towards data integrity, data enrichment improvements, and data governance. Strong problem analysis and problem-solving skills in a technical environment. Detail-oriented with organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Able to work well independently and with others in a fast-paced team environment. Preferred: 8+ years’ experience in product stewardship or regulatory affairs Experience with global regulatory requirements. Proficiency in Agile project methods. Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and automation tools like Power Automate. 2+ years of experience with Tableau, creating Tableau data visualizations, analytics dashboards and reports to enable data-driven decision making. TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Required: Use of a variety of complex IT applications. Experience in paint & coatings or chemical industry. Strong knowledge and experience with relational databases and data structures. Proficiency in common project management methods such as charter & user story writing, requirements gathering and documenting, status reporting creation and publishing, etc. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Visio, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal team members as well as external cross-team stakeholders and IT partners.
