This role plays a vital part in ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, with a specific focus on infant and toddler classrooms.Key responsibilities include respectfully training and mentoring staff, supporting, and onboarding new families, managing enrollment and intake processes (especially for new infants), and maintaining compliance with all state licensing regulations and internal policies. The Assistant Director also serves as a role model for professionalism and Service Excellence.ESSENTIAL DUTIESGeneral Operations & SupervisionProvide daily operational and supervisory support to the Director of Child CareSupervise and mentor infant and toddler teaching staffEnsure compliance with all state licensing regulations and internal policiesManage ordering and inventory of all supplies needed for classrooms and school operationsMaintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in all classroomsTrain and guide staff in maintaining cleanliness and safety standardsTrack and monitor staff attendance and tardiness; document concerns and follow upDeliver and document written warnings when necessary; ensure signatures for staff filesServe as a point of contact for the SCCC Nurse regarding health-related concernsAssist in hiring and onboarding new infant/toddler staff (screenings, interviews, reference checks, etc.)Support in classroom when requiredStaff DevelopmentPlan and co-lead staff meetings; present on best practices and licensing updatesSupport teachers through the TS GOLD assessment processSupport staff in preparing for and conducting parent-teacher conferencesConduct mid-season and end-of-season performance reviews for infant and toddler staffPromote continuous improvement and professional growth among staffFamily Engagement & CommunicationConduct tours and intake meetings for prospective families (including new infant intakes)Serve as a primary contact for new families during the enrollment and transition processAssist in planning and leading family events, including Back-to-School NightMaintain professional, clear, and timely communication with familiesSupport smooth transitions and onboarding for newly enrolled childrenEnrollment & Administrative SupportManage and maintain Brightwheel enrollment formsCreate, edit, and review digital and paper enrollment documentsAudit family files for completeness and complianceTrack enrollment and manage waitlistsProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other office softwareFinalize weekly payroll, including reviewing and submitting time recordsPerform other duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSDirector-qualified for a large child care center in Colorado (per Colorado State Licensing requirements)Infant Program Supervisor-qualifiedBachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related human services fieldDemonstrated ability to supervise and support staff with professionalism, emotional intelligence, and clear communicationAble to maintain a calm, friendly, and positive demeanor under pressure and in a fast-paced environmentStrong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills with staff and familiesEffective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skillsAbility to model and uphold Steamboat's Service Excellence standardsKnowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 0-5Ability to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with management, co-workers, and familiesComfortable and capable of caring for children ages 0-5 in a developmentally appropriate wayEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related human services fieldOR an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (including coursework or certification in early childhood special education) and at least 1 year of verified experience in the care of 4 or more children less than 8 years of ageOR a Level III Early Childhood Professional Credential, 3 years of relevant experience, and the ability to complete all 10 director-level courses. NOTE: A professional development plan to complete required coursework will be established at the time of hire if not already completed.The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on a range of factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation total compensation package for employees.
