Our Mission, Vision, and Values guide the way we do business.Leidos currently has an opportunity for a talented Electrical Designer within our Maritime Systems Division (MSD) in Long Beach, MS. Leidos MSD develops and deploys advanced technology solutions that address existing and emerging maritime missions of national importance for a broad range of customers across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, other governmental agencies and commercial clients.This is an opportunity to assist the development, demonstration, production and integration of advanced systems using your knowledge and experience in electrical system design. This position encompasses a range of possible skill sets and may require occasional travel to and coordination with engineering activities at other Leidos facilities and government facilities. Strong organizational and multitasking skills, attention to detail and accuracy in design work are a “must have” for this position.Primary ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop electrical systems for buildings and similar structures including power and control signalsPerform load calculations, determine electrical requirements, select and specify electrical components, materials, and equipmentEnsure designs comply with local, state, and federal electrical codes and standardsPrepare and review detailed plans, specifications, reports and other documentation for electrical installationsCoordinate with engineers, project managers, and construction teams during installation of electrical systemsTroubleshoot and resolve electrical design issuesUtilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed and accurate designsPerform cost estimates and assist in budget preparation for electrical projectsBasic QualificationsAssociate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a similar field2-4 years of experience in electrical designPrevious experience in designing electrical systems for commercial and industrial projectsExperience designing and working with single-phase and 3-phase AC powerAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprintsExperience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks for electrical design and documentationAbility to work independently and within a teamMust be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret-level security clearanceU.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIREDPreferred QualificationsExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills as well as strong communication and teamwork abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Experience and knowledge of mechanical integration of electrical systemsStrong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant regulationsEffective communication skills both written and verbalFamiliarity with safety protocols and procedures related to electrical workCome break things (in a good way).
