Experience: • 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months. • Must have at least 24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience. • Travel experience is required from any number of months. • Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months. • BSN completion preferred Requirements: • Candidates must have a District of Columbia license (required for submission). • This role will require floating to multiple units • Local & travel allowed. Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Patient Diagnoses: Pneumonia, respiratory conditions that may include isolation (TB, FLU, COVID-19), COPD, CHF, Hypertensive emergencies, Endocrine disorders, Chron’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Acute Pancreatitis, GERD, Urinary Tract Infections, Sepsis, Hepatitis, Chronic Kidney Disease, Acute Kidney Injury, Stroke, TIA, neurological conditions, hematological conditions, electrolyte imbalances, and Autoimmune disorders. Nurses will be expected to provide care for those requiring special isolation precautions. Types of Patients on Unit: Adults, Geriatrics Unit/Facility Details: Total Staffed Beds: 402. General Medicine/Telemetry (C6-1) MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s 16-bed General Medicine/Telemetry Unit cares for adult patients with complex, wide-ranging, multisystem diagnoses, including those needing continuous pulse oximetry and telemetry. This unit can accommodate patients that may require close observation, it typically blends general medicine care and other specialized disciplines to provide comprehensive care to patients. Nurses will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to manage the overall care of the patient. Shift & Scheduling: D/N. Weekend Req: Every other weekend, 6 weekend shifts. 6 weekends are required, weekend shifts are considered Saturday (AM or PM) or Sunday (AM or PM). Holiday coverage availability. Floating Requirements: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.
