Plant Operator – Power Generation Facility | Queens, NYLocation: Long Island City, Queens, NYPay Range: $50.60 – $55.30/hourSchedule: 12-hour rotating shifts, 5-week modified DuPont scheduleAbout the RoleWe are seeking a Plant Operator to join a large-scale power generation facility in Queens, NY. In this essential position, you’ll be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining plant systems and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production. This role offers clear advancement opportunities, technical training, and union stability within a critical energy infrastructure environment.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate and monitor power plant systems and components during assigned shifts.Perform plant rounds, collect data, and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal operations.Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance such as valve adjustments, oil changes, and filter replacements.Apply and remove Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures in accordance with safety standards.Serve as fire watch and confined-space monitor when required.Respond promptly to abnormal or emergency plant conditions.Assist with start-up, shutdown, and troubleshooting of plant systems.Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports.Required Skills & ExperienceMinimum 3 years of experience in power generation, process plant operations, or equivalent military experience.Proven ability to start, operate, and shut down power plant equipment safely and efficiently.Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills, including familiarity with systems up to 345 kV.Experience applying LOTO procedures and following strict plant safety and environmental protocols.Proficiency in data collection and analysis to identify performance trends and improve reliability.Why Join UsWe offer clear advancement opportunities through a five-level progression system across Field and Control Room tracks, with performance-based promotions and pay increases.
