A core part of this role will include being a strategic advisor on the Insurance Holding Company System Act and corporate insurance regulatory reporting. This position will work closely with and report to the Associate General Counsel, Long-Term Care.What you will be doingRegulatory filings related to compliance with insurance regulations across state jurisdictions, including interacting and working directly with state regulatorsSupport statutory filings and compliance with the Insurance Company Holding Act (e.g. Affiliate Agreement Filings, Prior Approval Filings and Risk Filings)Support contracting initiatives between insurance affiliate entities and with external partiesProvide strategic advice and counsel to business, finance, legal and other colleagues on Insurance Holding Company System Act and corporate insurance regulatory mattersSupport corporate governance matters related to Genworth subsidiary boardsProvide advice and counsel to internal clients on impact of new insurance laws, regulations and caselawResponsible for identification of legal and insurance regulatory risks and development of risk avoidance and risk mitigation strategiesWhat you bringJD degree from an accredited law schoolMinimum of 5 years of experience as legal counsel within a corporate legal department, state department of insurance or a quality law firm focused on insurance regulatory mattersExperience with Insurance Holding Company System Act and corporate insurance regulatory mattersDemonstrated ability to learn and master new substantive topics quicklyOutstanding written and oral communications skillsDemonstrated partnership with internal business clients with a solution-oriented focus on achieving business priorities and goalsStrong legal research and writing skillsDemonstrated ability to work with minimal daily supervision, while also knowing when a matter requires escalationDemonstrated ability to proactively manage client/management expectationsDemonstrated ability to identify and assess risks and make recommendations regarding risk mitigationNice to haveExperience with corporate governance matters related to corporate boards of directorsPrior experience interacting directly with regulatorsEmployee Benefits & Well-BeingGenworth employees make a difference in people’s lives every day.
