We offer end-to-end solutions—from design and installation to ongoing maintenance and emergency support—helping clients maximize building performance, energy efficiency, and equipment lifespan.Position SummaryThe Apprentice Electrician supports licensed electricians with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on commercial/industrial projects. This is a hands-on, learn-while-you-earn role focused on safety, craftsmanship, and adherence to the National Electrical Code (NEC). The apprentice receives daily coaching, completes assigned training modules, and progresses toward journeyman-level proficiency.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with installations: Pull wire/cable; set boxes; install devices, lighting, and basic raceways (EMT/PVC) under supervision.Material handling & prep: Stage materials, keep work areas organized, and help with takeoffs and deliveries.Tools & equipment: Maintain hand/power tools; learn proper use of benders, drills, testers, and ladders/lifts.Drawings & layout: Read basic plans and one-lines; measure, mark, and support layout with levels/lasers.Terminations & connections: Learn proper stripping, crimping, labeling, and device terminations with quality checks.Safety & compliance: Follow all safety rules (PPE, LOTO, ladder/fall protection, housekeeping); attend daily toolbox talks.Testing & QA: Assist with continuity checks, labeling, torque verification, and redlines/as-builts as directed.Team support: Work productively with journeymen/foremen; communicate status, issues, and material needs.Training & documentation: Complete required classroom/online modules; log OJT hours toward licensure.Site readiness: Help with site cleanup, waste control, and end-of-day securement of tools and materials.QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or GED.0–2 years of electrical or construction experience (school, shop, or field exposure a plus).Willingness to enroll in/maintain an approved apprenticeship program and track OJT/classroom hours.Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and safe work practices.Ability to read a tape measure, perform basic math, and learn codes/standards.Reliable transportation; ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders/lifts in varying conditions.Strong work ethic, punctuality, and teamwork; follows directions and asks clarifying questions.PreferredCurrent apprentice registration with the state (if applicable).OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain within 60 days).Prior exposure to conduit bending, wire pulling, or device install (school/shop/previous job).Familiarity with construction apps (e.g., PlanGrid/Procore) and labeling standards.Benefits:Competitive salary based on experience.Health, dental, and vision insurance.Paid time off and holiday pay.Opportunities for professional development and certification assistance.Equal Employment Opportunity:Upchurch Companies provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants.
