Job Description

Description: Weyerhaeuser is a leader in sustainable forestry and wood products, dedicated to innovation and operational excellence. As Senior Director of Data Management reporting to the Vice President of AI and Data, you will be accountable for building a customer-driven data foundation that powers Weyerhaeuser’s operations, AI initiatives, and digital transformation. You will lead the creation of trusted, governed, and reusable data products that unlock measurable business value — from EBITDA impact to customer experience. The Senior Director of Data Management will oversee the organization's data management strategy, ensuring that data assets are governed, accessible, accurate, secure, and effectively utilized to achieve Weyerhaeuser's strategic goals. This leader will work closely with business units, IT, and the AI team to develop and maintain a robust data ecosystem that supports master data management, metadata management, data quality, and compliance. This role will play a critical part in managing both structured and unstructured data and ensuring alignment with Weyerhaeuser's AI and digital innovation initiatives. Key ResponsibilitiesEnterprise Data Strategy and Leadership Define and execute Weyerhaeuser’s enterprise data management strategy, aligning with the company’s vision to be the most customer-driven company in the industry. Collaborate with business leaders to identify how data can drive improvements in decision-making, process optimization, and future business opportunities, including AI applications. Lead the data team to create a strategy, vision and scalable data product operating model, ensuring consistency, trust, and reusability across all domains. Embed and operationalize Weyerhaeuser’s governance framework, ensuring ownership, standards, and policies become part of daily workflows across all domains. Foster a metrics-driven culture focused on measuring quality, adoption, efficiency, and business value to maximize enterprise-wide impact and return on investment. Customer-Driven Data Products Build and govern data products that span silviculture, demand forecasting, pricing, manufacturing, real estate, energy and other domains providing clear service levels and objectives. Partner with business and product teams to back-solve from customer and business outcomes, ensuring data products directly support decision-making and value creation. Deliver data products with predictable service levels (SLAs) to ensure trust, consistency, and measurable value creation. Enterprise, Industrial, and Geospatial Data Excellence Ensure SAP systems (S/4, C4C, BTP, BCP) are fully integrated into the enterprise data architecture, providing consistent, trusted data across finance, supply chain, customer, and operations. Govern Industrial Operations Data (MES and IIoT) to ensure manufacturing and equipment data from mills and forests is accurate, timely, and connected to enterprise platforms — enabling predictive maintenance, yield optimization, safety, and cost efficiency. Expand stewardship of geospatial data (ESRI, LiDAR, satellite, forest mapping) as a core domain, powering digital twins, sustainability reporting, and AI-enabled forest management. Transform unstructured data into a governed, high-value asset by establishing unified oversight and insight across platforms like SharePoint, ServiceNow, SAP, UKG, and others. Unlock business value by combining enterprise, industrial, and geospatial data into a unified, governed ecosystem that drives resilience, customer insights, and operational excellence. AI-Ready & Advanced Data Capabilities Ensure Weyerhaeuser’s data is engineered to accelerate analytics and AI — reducing prep time, improving quality, and enabling feature store governance for ML. Lead teams to develop semantic models and conversational readiness for natural-language analytics, Microsoft Copilot, and AI agent use cases. Oversee governance of structured, unstructured, and data (e.g., IoT sensor data, drone imagery, MES/IIoT), making them discoverable, trusted, and AI-ready. Governance and Trust Accelerate Weyerhaeuser’s enterprise data management and governance strategy, while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Expand and enforce enterprise definitions, lineage, and stewardship across all domains. Unify policies for compliance (chain-of-custody, sustainability, privacy) while enabling speed, agility, and innovation. Implement data security protocols to safeguard sensitive information and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements. Technology & Tools Ensure Weyerhaeuser’s hybrid enterprise and modern data stack — including SAP, Snowflake, dbt, Purview, and ESRI — work together seamlessly to support enterprise-scale analytics and AI. Evaluate and implement emerging tools that improve data observability, lineage, and real-time decision-making. Collaboration & Culture Work closely with leaders across the enterprise to co-create solutions that deliver measurable outcomes. Build strong partnerships with mill and operations leaders to ensure manufacturing and SAP data are reliable, accessible, and actionable. Lead data literacy and culture programs, equipping employees across offices, mills, and forests to confidently use and verify data.
