In this role, you will lead the design, automation, observability, and optimization of our public cloud environment at Enact Mortgage Insurance. You will play a key role in architecting scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure; driving automation initiatives; and mentoring fellow engineers in modern cloud and DevOps practices. You’ll collaborate closely with software development, data, and security teams to deliver well-architected cloud-native solutions that support Enact’s mission to innovate and operate with excellence. We value creativity, technical depth, and the ability to lead with both vision and execution.LOCATIONEnact Headquarters, Raleigh, NC – Hybrid ScheduleYOUR RESPONSIBILITIESArchitect and evolve Enact’s AWS infrastructure using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support secure, reliable software delivery across multiple environments.Lead automation initiatives that simplify operations, improve deployment velocity, and enhance reliability.Implement and optimize observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, New Relic, or Datadog) for proactive monitoring and alerting.Collaborate with application, security, and data engineering teams to design well-architected, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.Drive cloud governance and security best practices, including IAM design, network segmentation, and compliance alignment.Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud and networking issues with root-cause precision.Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on automation, coding standards, and architectural decisions.Continuously evaluate emerging AWS services and DevOps tooling to enhance the cloud platform’s maturity.YOUR QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar field.5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automation.5+ years of experience and advanced proficiency with AWS, including VPC design, IAM policies, ECS/Fargate, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, and Route 53.5+ years of experience in Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform (preferred) or CloudFormation, with experience managing complex environments.Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or AWS CodePipeline.Strong understanding of networking, security principles, and identity management in cloud environments.Experience managing containerized workloads and orchestrating deployments across ECS or EKS.Proven experience building resilient, observable, and cost-optimized cloud environments.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with serverless and event-driven architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge).Knowledge of Snowflake, RDS/Aurora, or DynamoDB in cloud data ecosystems.Familiarity with Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) or governance frameworks (CIS, NIST, AWS FSBP).Exposure to WAF, Shield Advanced, or Route 53 Resolver for network-level protection.Experience with GitLab, Jira, and Agile delivery methodologies.AWS Certifications such as Solutions Architect – Professional, DevOps Engineer – Professional, or equivalent experience.COMPANYEnact Holdings, Inc.
