An All-Star Music Festival Conductor for the MS/HS Orchestra is responsible for all musical aspects of the All-Star Music Festival. They work closely with the All-Star Music Leader of the same assigned area to ensure they (the Conductor) has what they need to lead the musical rehearsals and deliver the performance in March 2026. RESPONSIBILITIES: Determine the musical selections for the performance Assign students to roles in each musical piece, as needed Meet regularly with the All-Star Music Leader to address any open items and ensure the project is staying on track Must be available: Full day on Friday, March 27th, 2026 Full day and evening Saturday, March 28th, 2026 for the Music Festival The MS/HS orchestra practice will be on Friday, March 27th and Saturday, March 28th, with the performance in the evening. Design and direct the musical practice session and final performances during the Festival weekend. ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Education & Credentials: Strong Musical Expertise: Deep understanding of choral/instrumental technique, musical interpretation, and ensemble balance across a range of styles and genres appropriate for the festival Experience working with EL, MS, and HS students (dependent upon assigned area) Conducting Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in rehearsing and conducting large student ensembles efficiently, with clear conducting technique and expressive leadership. Rehearsal Planning & Management: Ability to structure rehearsals that are engaging, productive, and developmentally appropriate for student musicians, with strong pacing and clear musical objectives. Essential Skills: Strong Interpersonal & Team-working Skills. Creates a warm and encouraging atmosphere to guide students and help them perform at their best. Flexibility & Problem-Solving: Ability to think on your feet and adapt plans as needed to handle real-time challenges during festival preparation and day-of logistics. Student-Centered Mindset: A commitment to creating a positive, safe, and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported. Positive and Inspiring Leadership: Skill in motivating and engaging young musicians in a way that fosters growth, confidence, and musical excellence. TRAVEL: Must be able to travel by motor vehicle to Stratford Preparatory Milpitas in Milpitas on March 27th and March 28th, 2026. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
