About this Job: General Summary of PositionThe Therapy Aide provides patient care duties as it relates to therapy in their assigned department under the direct supervision of a Licensed Therapist. The incumbent will work with a varied patient population and encourage patient participation in programs through organizing various activities and will ensure that communal areas and items are sanitized following infection control protocols before and after each use. He/she will also have the opportunity to partake in professional development opportunities offered by MedStar National Rehabilitation Network (MNRN) and its affiliates.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesContributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards while complying with governmental and accreditation regulations.Provides effective and efficient patient care on the assigned unit/department under the supervision of a Licensed Therapist.Performs non-patient care duties as assigned by the supervisor or therapist to include activities such as maintaining communal therapy areas and coordinating programs as necessary.Communicates effectively with patients families and all members of the rehabilitation team and reports pertinent signs symptoms and patient status to the appropriate therapist.Demonstrates competence in the use of equipment to include beds wheelchairs environmental control units lifts exercise equipment cleaning chemicals and supplies assistive devices stretchers DME O2 equipment kitchen appliances and food & office equipment (computers telephones pagers).Accurately completes written feedback as it relates to patient care & data reports.Maintains communal areas in neat & orderly fashion following appropriate infection control standards.Prepares materials projects & equipment for individual and group activities.Demonstrates effective time management and meets productivity expectations and is timely punctual and prepared for work assignment and meetings.Participates in developmental activities for continued professional growth. Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self.Supports and participates in service goals and operations.Maintains & updates an accurate daily schedule and keeps supervisor aware. Minimal QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or GED required Experience Minimum of 3 months of experience with patient care preferred Licenses and Certifications American Heart Association Heart Saver Card required Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesCultural competence & demonstrated empathy in dealing with a variety of patient populationsExcellent verbal and written communication skills with patients caregivers and other team members This position has a hiring range of : USD $18.00 - USD $29.74 /Hr.
