The work is hands‑on and physically demanding — you’ll service garbage trucks and heavy equipment, lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, and work in environments that may involve dirt, grease, and strong odors.ScheduleMonday–Friday 3:00 PM – 11:30 PMOvertime: 3–10 hours per week on averageCompensation & BenefitsHourly Pay: $29.00 – $30.25Shift Differential: +$1.50/hourCDL Premium: +$1.00/hour for CDL holdersTool Allowance: $125/monthAnnual Boot VoucherCompany‑provided uniformsFull benefits package, including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), and moreCareer advancement opportunities into Diesel Mechanic and higher‑level technician rolesCareer GrowthThis role is designed as a pathway to becoming a Diesel Mechanic. Many of our top diesel technicians began their careers in this position.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventative maintenance on garbage trucks, trailers, and heavy equipmentUse fleet maintenance software to track and complete service tasksConduct safety inspections and maintain an OSHA‑compliant work environmentPartner with drivers to identify and troubleshoot vehicle issuesComplete repairs and maintenance based on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)QualificationsMinimum 2 years of hands‑on preventative maintenance experience in a professional settingExperience with commercial vehicles, diesel engines, or heavy equipment is highly preferredValid driver’s license requiredMust provide a personal set of basic tools and toolboxAbility to use computers and diagnostic software for maintenance and troubleshootingStrong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn and growSafety‑sensitive positionAbout Waste Connections:Waste Connections is a leading provider of solid waste and recycling services in North America, with a footprint across 44 states and 6 Canadian provinces.
