At Astound, we believe in creating astounding possibilities for everyone, everywhere.A Day in the Life of theBroadband Network Technician IDetect, troubleshoot and resolve system outages in aerial and/or underground capacities related to transmission levels, signal losses and off-air interference.Prepare and perform emergency aerial and/or underground coaxial cable restoration due to variables such as cable breaks and/or damagePerform preventative maintenance (power supply, actives) in the form of testing, balancing, alignment and adjustments of components or equipmentMonitor, record and repair cable leakage, complying with applicable regulationsObserve and assist co-workers with fiber splicing activitiesComplete and distribute required documentation, such as work orders and daily logsParticipation in a 24/7 on-call rotationOther duties as assignedRequirements/QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalentExperience: 2+ years (telecom technician)Competencies: Maintain satisfactory driving record and have a valid driver's license; Customer Service, Communication (verbal, written), Basic Computer Skills; Aptitude to learn to skills; Problem solving; Time Management; Teamwork; Working alone; Ability to read and interpret maps; Bucket Certified; Ohm's; Understand the Outside PlantKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ladder; Hand or Power Tools; Customer Service; Communication (verbal, written); Basic Computer Skills; Aptitude to learn to skills; Problem solving; Time Management; Teamwork; Working aloneThe base salary range in Illinois for this position is $25.00- $30.00 per hour, plus opportunities for bonus and benefits, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities.
