Senior Benefits Specialist The Senior Benefits Specialist will provide critical administrative and employee support during the open enrollment period and throughout the year. This position serves as the first point of contact for employees regarding benefits access, eligibility, and general plan inquiries. The individual will also assist with benefits data management, reporting, and communication, and coordinate with the Company’s insurance broker and HR partners to ensure smooth and accurate benefits administration. This is a full-time position, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is detail-oriented, and demonstrates strong customer service skills. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Serve as the first level of support for employees with benefits access, enrollment, or plan-related questions. Provide timely and accurate assistance through email, chat, or phone regarding benefits options, coverage details, and enrollment procedures. Support the Benefits Manager in preparing and managing open enrollment materials, communications, and employee sessions. Perform data entry and updates in ADP Lyric, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of employee benefit information. Coordinate with the insurance broker on routine matters such as eligibility verifications, claim escalations, and plan documentation. Audit enrollment data for accuracy and completeness before and after open enrollment. Assist with new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, and termination benefit processes. Maintain and update benefits records and employee files in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Provide administrative support for benefits reporting, reconciliations, and ad hoc projects as assigned. Understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times to ensure a safe work environment Assist with administering all company policies and procedures, including PTO and Leave of absence. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of employee benefits administration principles, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. Understanding of open enrollment processes, including employee communications, system updates, and post-enrollment auditing. Familiarity with carrier plan structures, policies, and resources, preferably United Healthcare. Knowledge of ADP Lyric or similar HRIS/benefits administration platforms. Awareness of basic benefits compliance requirements, such as HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, and ERISA. General understanding of HR operations, payroll linkages, and employee data management. Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new systems, processes, and plan changes. Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with employees and external partners. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining alignment with HR team goals. Ability to interpret benefits documentation and explain coverage options in accessible language. Ability to handle high-volume inquiries with patience, professionalism, and accuracy. Experience and Credentials 4+ years of a combination of HR and benefits administration, or related experience. Experience using an HRIS system, like ADP Lyric, for benefits administration. Working knowledge of benefits plans and processes. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Prior experience supporting open enrollment in a corporate environment. Familiarity with COBRA, FMLA, and other common benefit-related regulations. HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) or coursework in HR/Benefits Administration a plus. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via digital platforms.
