About this Job: General Summary of PositionAccountability and responsibility for leadership direction and management of nursing resources; 24 hour/ 7 day a week basis.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides assessment development training and consultation to improve nursing leadership effectiveness and efficiencies in setting and achieving financial targets.Maintains flexible financial tracking and monitoring programs of key indicators to provide data for trend analysis and improvement of financial outcomes.Meets regularly with nursing management to assess current and future staffing needs.Provides oversight of patient placement and throughput facilitated by management of the Bedboard system.Selects trains orients supervises and assigns direct reports including Nursing Supervisors. Develops standards of performance and evaluates performance of subordinates by regularly conducting performance management reviews. Initiates or recommends counseling and/or corrective action for personnel. Maintains ongoing communication with subordinates to review resource management and throughput provide feedback discuss new developments and exchange information.Maintains Staffing and Scheduling System up to date.Meets with Leaders regularly to ensure accuracy of Position Controls. Meets with recruitment monthly to reconcile requisitions.Responsible for the daily operations and commitment needs of the Float Pool in conjunction with the appropriate nurse Leader.Analyzes financial reports for accuracy reasonableness and applicability to sound business principles and practices and interprets results to nursing leadership.Develops and implements appropriate workload performance standards evaluates performance standards and recommends appropriate productivity improvements and cost reductions.Collects statistical data and prepares reports reflecting staffing levels and scheduling patterns.Manages Staffing Matrices for efficient utilization for staffing nursing unitsResponsible for validating payment of all traveler invoices and producing reports that detail hours and dollars by department.Responsible for validating the needs of agency requested with the Division of NursingCollaborates with nurse executives human resources payroll and finance in the planning implementation and evaluation of changes that impact nursing's ability to meet staffing and scheduling requirements and effectively utilize human resources in a cost-effective manner.Assumes other duties as assigned. Minimal QualificationsEducationMaster's degree in Nursing required Experience5-7 years nursing experience in an acute care environment required 3-4 years nursing leadership experience preferred Licenses and CertificationsRN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in District of Columbia required CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit. Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesAbility to comprehend and follow the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital Associate Handbook.Ability to comprehend and follow the policies and procedures for MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital.Ability to read write and speak or communicate in English to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position.Ability to demonstrate ethical behavior that supports the hospital's mission values and commitment to compliance with all federal state and regulatory laws. Delegates and supervises work appropriately. This position has a hiring range of : USD $120,702.00 - USD $238,222.00 /Yr.
