Position SummaryThe primary function of the Outside Sales position is to manage all sales activities from lead generation through closing within an assigned territory. This role develops and implements the agreed-upon Company Marketing Plan while working toward customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and long-term account development in alignment with branch goals and values. Comprehensive training is provided, including product knowledge of building materials such as drywall, insulation, metal studs, ceiling systems, construction tools, safety items, drywall compound, and related accessories.Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage all steps of the sales process, including preparing action plans by account and product lineIdentify, pursue, and follow up on sales leads and new customer opportunitiesExecute up-sell and cross-sell strategies to maximize revenueBuild strong customer relationships to drive repeat business and long-term partnershipsMaintain strong product knowledge to support customer buying decisionsProvide timely and accurate competitive pricing for completed prospect applicationsMaintain accurate records of sales activity, sales performance, and pricingGather and analyze competitive market and pricing informationBasic QualificationsStrong Microsoft Office skillsProven ability to self-manage and work independentlyExperience in supplier relationship managementKnowledge of building materials and the construction industry strongly preferredBachelor’s degree preferredExperience with Excel preferredThree to five years of sales experience preferredCore CompetenciesDemonstrate trust and integrity by striving to do the right thingPractice servant leadership by valuing diverse perspectives and putting the needs of others firstAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentAbility to lead, execute, and/or delegate responsibilities as neededEstablish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organizationChampion an inclusive working environment and empower othersAbility to self-manage, show initiative, be proactive, and drive resultsCommunicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, with coworkers and customersPhysical RequirementsAbility to remain in a stationary position in an office environment approximately 70% of the timeOccasional movement within the office to access files and office equipmentAbility to operate basic office machineryAbility to communicate effectively with team members and managementRequired Cognitive SkillsAbility to problem-solve and prioritize tasksAbility to manage stress related to deadlines and ongoing projectsAbility to multitaskAbility to receive and analyze sales and financial informationAbility to quickly communicate solutions when issues ariseAbility to demonstrate sound judgment and initiativeLaunch your career with a national building materials distributor and discover opportunities for growth and advancement.
