This individual will report directly to the Manager of Advanced Manufacturing Systems and will work closely with the Lead Process Engineer. The Production Technician will play a central role in operating production equipment, coordinating labor, and ensuring parts are completed and delivered on schedule. They will also perform first-line maintenance and troubleshooting and escalate appropriately to engineering and facilities teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced technician who thrives in fast-paced environments, learns quickly, and takes full ownership of production goals and equipment usage. Key Responsibilities: Production & Labor Coordination: Operate and monitor all critical production machinery related to ceramic core manufacturing. Ensure consistent part flow and successful completion of daily and weekly production targets. Coordinate labor and operator assignments across shifts to meet changing throughput demands. Adjust shift schedules and task assignments in real time based on demand and machine availability. Equipment Operation & Troubleshooting: Become a power user of production equipment, executing setup, operation, and routine maintenance per SOPs. Document and perform initial troubleshooting for machine alarms or faults; escalate unresolved issues. Record and analyze machine availability, downtime causes, and performance deviations. Data Logging & Process Oversight: Track and review process data using internal production tracking and data logging tools. Maintain traceability records, operator logs, and material movement logs. Support root cause investigations using production data and operator feedback. Lean & Daily Management: Participate in tiered daily management meetings and suggest improvements tied to throughput and uptime. Support plant 5S efforts and implement organization, cleanliness, and workflow improvements. Uphold safety protocols and ensure team compliance with operating procedures and documentation standards. Qualifications & Requirements: Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent certification/work experience in quality control/inspection role in a production environment. 2+ years in technician or production leadership roles in complex manufacturing environments. Experience coordinating production teams or serving as a de facto shift lead. Demonstrated success delivering throughput goals in a high-mix or highly scheduled production setting. Proven ability or familiarity with SOPs, work instructions, and inspection documentation. Other Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Proficiency in operating and maintaining advanced machinery. Familiarity with production data logging systems (PLC HMIs, SCADA, or historian tools). Competence in troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, and sensor-based faults. Basic Excel skills for reviewing logs, summarizing downtime, and calculating throughput. Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and tiered meeting systems. Clear and concise communication (verbal and written). High attention to detail with a sense of ownership over outcomes. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly and solve real-time production challenges. Ability to lift 50 pounds independently. Comfort working in environments with heat, vibration, and frequent movement between machines.
