This role enforces GMPs, safety rules, sanitation standards, and regulatory compliance. The incumbent will complete and validate documentation, create and maintain SSOPs, train sanitation associates, and coordinate daily sanitation priorities.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSanitation OperationsCoordinate sanitation activities to meet objectives for quality, food safety, integrity, regulatory compliance, cost, safety, and customer satisfaction.Enforce company policies, GMPs, food safety rules, and safety regulations.Support state, federal, and customer inspection readiness.Validate sanitation effectiveness via visual inspections, ATP, microbial, and allergen testing.Verify proper chemical usage and concentration for all sanitation processes.Ensure minimal downtime related to sanitation or pre‑operational inspections.Complete and review sanitation documentation accurately and on time.Validate and maintain equipment cleaning SSOPs.Oversee disassembly, cleaning, and sanitizing of processing equipment, storage areas, and line changeovers.Communicate issues, risks, or concerns with leadership and collaborate on resolutions.Properly use and demonstrate correct PPE related to chemical handling.Monitor facility chemical inventory and move chemicals throughout the Penn Yan location as needed.Perform sanitation-related special assignments as required.Leadership & TrainingPrioritize and assign daily sanitation tasks to the sanitation team.Align with sanitation leadership on team direction, goals, and KPIs.Train new and existing sanitation associates on SSOPs, procedures, documentation, and safe chemical handling.Influence and motivate cross‑functional teams to support sanitation and food safety programs.Equipment & ToolsMust be willing to learn to operate a forklift and scissor lift.Social ResponsibilitiesMaintain compliance with KanPak/GSF Code of Business Conduct, policies, management systems, and all applicable Environmental, Health & Safety regulations.Act according to KanPak’s Creed & Values.Required QualificationsMinimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environmentMinimum 3 years of sanitation experience (preferred, not required)High school diploma required; Associate Degree in a related field preferredPreferred QualificationsAbility to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)Ability to read P&IDs and blueprintsAdvanced computer skillsCompetencies / Job SkillsStrong prioritization and organizational skillsEffective time management for self and teamClear written & verbal communicationStrong research skills for creating accurate SSOPs and documentationAdaptability to different communication and training stylesHigh attention to detailAbility to enforce safety and hazard proceduresLeadership, coaching, training, and team‑direction abilitiesMechanical & electronic aptitudeCollaboration with supervisors, maintenance, QA, and engineeringKnowledge of HACCPAbility to operate (or willingness to train on) forklift and scissor liftPhysical RequirementsRegularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
