Project Engineer - Building EnvelopeLocation: Charlotte, NCExperience Level: Mid-Level (3–7 Years)Employment Type: Full-Time | In-Office with Local TravelJob Summary:A growing engineering consulting firm specializing in building envelope and restoration projects is seeking a Project Engineer / Project Manager to join its team in Charlotte, NC. This mid-level role is ideal for an engineering professional with 3–7 years of experience in building envelope consulting, construction, restoration, or related engineering disciplines.The position offers the opportunity to work on a mix of field investigations, project management, and technical documentation while supporting building restoration and enclosure consulting projects.This role requires local travel to project sites, daily office presence, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Key ResponsibilitiesManage 5–10 building envelope and restoration projects at various stages.Conduct site inspections and assessments of roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall systems.Prepare technical reports, condition assessments, and project documentation.Assist with design development, specifications, and construction documents for restoration projects.Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.Support construction administration and quality assurance during project execution.Travel locally to project sites for inspections and project oversight.QualificationsRequired3–7 years of professional experience in engineering, construction consulting, building envelope consulting, or related fields.Familiarity with building envelope systems such as roofing, waterproofing, exterior walls, and building enclosure components.Experience with field inspections, condition assessments, or construction administration.Strong technical writing and report preparation skills.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.Must live in the Charlotte area and have a reliable vehicle for travel to project sites.Ability to work in the office daily with regular site visits.PreferredEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or working toward PE licensure.Experience with building envelope consulting, restoration engineering, or forensic engineering.Familiarity with CAD software and construction documentation preparation.Experience with ASTM standards or Property Condition Assessments (PCA).Work EnvironmentA combination of office-based engineering work and field site visits.Projects include both long-term restoration projects requiring frequent site visits and shorter-term assessment projects lasting several weeks.Engineers typically manage 5–10 projects simultaneously, balancing fieldwork, technical reporting, and project coordination.
