About this Job: General Summary of PositionProvides leadership to care providers for Outpatient Oncology clinical practice. Ensures the provision of quality patient care and customer services. Fosters staff commitment to improving patient outcomes. In collaboration with Director monitors financial and resource management. Follows department-specific policies and procedures and maintains competencies of assigned departments. OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification Certification in Chemotherapy and/or Biotherapy course preferred Primary Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations.Acts as liaison with physicians and other departments and resolves functional inconsistencies.Identifies individual staff development needs and provides appropriate resources to meet needs. Provides hands-on demonstration of procedures and evaluates competencies as required. Consults with Organizational Leadership and Research to identify and address educational gaps.Investigates and follows through on customer complaints and incidents and appropriately communicates to management.Maintains ongoing communication with assigned associates to review programs provide feedback discuss new developments and exchange new information. Performs frequent rounding with staff.Reviews and evaluates patient charts to ensure complete and accurate nursing documentation. Addresses educational gaps regarding documentation in the appropriate manner.Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams and maintains effective working relationships with other departments. Participates on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.Supports implementation of new programs by acting as the leader and providing guidance and direction in practice changes that will improve the quality of patient care.Assists in staff selection scheduling approval of PTO requests budget preparation performance evaluations and progressive discipline as assigned by Department Leader.Performs Charge Nurse and Nurse Navigator responsibilities as needed.Performs other duties ad assigned and maintains Clinical Ladder requirements as appropriate.Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimal QualificationsEducationGraduate from an accredited school of Nursing. requiredExperience3-4 years Experience providing direct patient care in oncology. required and3-4 years Nursing supervisor experience preferredLicenses and CertificationsRN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Registered Nurse with a current Maryland license required orMultistate Compact license. required andCPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required andAdditional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit. andOCN - Oncology Nurse Certification Certification in Chemotherapy and/or Biotherapy course preferredKnowledge Skills and AbilitiesVerbal and written communication skills.Basic computer skills preferred. This position has a hiring range of : USD $89,065.00 - USD $162,801.00 /Yr.
