JOB SUMMARY The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs routine and specialized respiratory therapy procedures on patients as prescribed by a physician and directed by department protocol. Oversees the activities of the Respiratory Care Technicians and Respiratory Care Student/Trainees when assigned that responsibility by the Director or Cardiopulmonary Services. Ability to provide care to the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Utilizes knowledge of principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient's age and condition to ensure that the unique physical and psychosocial needs of the patient are met. Involves appropriate individuals (i.e. patient's family or guardian, outside agencies) in the continuing care of the patient as needed.
