Job Summary and QualificationsPOSITION SUMMARY: The RN demonstrates independence in planning, organizing, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with the NH Nurse Practice Act, recognized nursing techniques, clinical and administrative policies.SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:A. Observation Area1. Provide assessment and care of the patient undergoing transesophageal echo (TEE), cardioversions and other cardiac procedures with appropriate competency completion.2. Recognize and respond to cardiac emergencies.3. Demonstrates knowledge of normal anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system4. Provide safe medication administration for the cardiac patient5. Utilizes appropriate hand off of care amongst healthcare givers6. Provide education and discharge planning to patient/family.B. Cardiac Cath Lab1. Provide assessment and care of the patient undergoing cardiac and vascular procedures included but not limited to percutaneous coronary intervention (PTCI) as well as percutaneous vascular intervention under moderate sedation2. Recognize and respond to cardiac emergencies during procedure3. Demonstrates knowledge of normal anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system4. Provide safe medication administration for the cardiac patient5. Utilizes appropriate hand off of care amongst healthcare givers6. Adheres to department standards for documenting patient care7. Provide education and discharge planning to patient/family.C. Holding Area1. Provides assessment and care on both pre and post procedure cardiac/vascular patients2. Recognize and respond to cardiac emergencies pre and post procedure3. Demonstrates knowledge of normal anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system4. Provide safe medication administration for the cardiac patient5. Utilizes appropriate hand off of care amongst healthcare givers6. Adheres to department standards for documenting patient care7. Provide education and discharge planning to patient/family8. Perform all other duties as assigned.
