Overview: GovCIO is currently hiring for a Senior Data Warehouse Operations Engineer with an active Secret clearance to provide hands-on operational support for the existing 15-year-old Kimball-modeled Enterprise Data Warehouse, built on SQL Server and SSIS. This position will be located in Merrifield, VA and will be a fully onsite position. Responsibilities: This role provides hands-on operational support for the existing 15-year-old Kimball-modeled Enterprise Data Warehouse, built on SQL Server and SSIS, and ensures stable operations; monitors daily ETL loads; handles job failures; supports file transfers; and serves as the first line of triage for data pipeline issues. This is an operational, reliability-focused position to reduce load on the current overwhelmed ops resource. Key Responsibilities:Monitor, troubleshoot, and support SSIS package execution and daily ETL workflows.Manage file transfers (SFTP/FTP/API drops) and ensure ingestion processes run without interruption.Perform root‑cause analysis for job failures; escalate to developers when needed.Maintain SQL Server jobs, schedules, alerts, and system health.Support incident response and on‑call rotation for EDW operations.Document operational runbooks and improve system reliability.Assist in minor SQL/data fixes or downstream adjustments (non‑architectural).Coordinate with EDW developers on enhancements or fixes. Qualifications: High School with 10+ years of application development (or commensurate experience) Clearance Required: Active Secret with the ability to obtain and hold DEA suitability Skills / Experience Required:Strong SQL and SQL Server experience.Hands-on SSIS operations (execution, logging, troubleshooting).ETL operations background (production support).Experience with SFTP/FTP, batch file handling, and data ingestion workflows.Familiar with job schedulers (SQL Agent, Autosys, Control‑M, etc.).Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skillset.Experience in operations/SRE for data systems (nice-to-have). Posted Pay RangeThe posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors. Posted Salary Range: USD $160,000.00 - USD $190,000.00 /Yr.
