We learn, grow, and achieve more - in our careers and in our communities.Job Description Summary:The Shift Supervisor supervises and manages the activities of Respiratory Care Therapists and Technicians, coordinates respiratory services with nursing units and physicians, and is responsible for productivity and quality control reviews He/She assists with assessment of patient's respiratory care needs in conjunction with the patient care evaluation and categorization systems and supervises activities of affiliating respiratory care students. This position also assists with department computer operations and performs miscellaneous other duties, as needed.Will be required to be in staffing for 3, 12-hour shifts, 4 hours of administrative time per week.Responsibilities And Duties:40%Supervises and directs activities of respiratory care therapists, and technicians: provides direct patient care as needed; schedules employees; assigns work areas and determines work priorities; responsible for orientation and training of new personnel; completes and reviews performance evaluations and reviews time and attendance; responsible for addressing personnel problems; reviews all incident reports pertinent to his/her shift; assists and supervises employees in all aspects of respiratory care and acts as resource person; interviews and provides input on new employees and shift transfers.15%Coordinates respiratory services with nursing units and physicians: solves and prevents problems by conferring with nurse managers and physicians.15%Responsible for productivity and quality control reviews: assesses performance, productivity and is able to determine and forecast both staffing and equipment needs; maintains quality of patient care by monitoring employee's charting and job performance.10%Assists with computer operations for billing, scheduling, communication needs in conjunction with the Systems Coordinator and/or manager.10%Performs miscellaneous related duties: works on special projects; helps develop, review and implement new department policies, procedures and protocol; gives special in services to nursing staff, medical staff or other professionals; coordinates and chairs shift meetings; assists in evaluation of new product; recommends and monitors methods for cost containment; may perform role of manager on another shift or in another area upon request; performs miscellaneous other duties as assigned.5%Assists with assessment of patient respiratory needs in conjunction with patient care evaluation; assists with assessment of patient respiratory needs in view of therapy ordered and available staff; confers with physicians to adjust therapy based on clinical patient assessment.5%Supervises and coordinates activities of affiliating respiratory care students in conjunction with Staff Development Coordinator.As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties. The job profile provides an overview of responsibilities and duties and is not intended to be an exhaustive list and is subject to change at any timeMinimum Qualifications:Associate's Degree (Required)NBRC - National Board of Respiratory Care - The National Board for Respiratory Care, RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist - American Association for Respiratory CareAdditional Job Description:Equivalent from two year college or technical school; or six months to one year related Experience and or training; or Equivalent combination of and Experience . NBRC Registry; Must hold and maintain Ohio License. Knowledge of Respiratory Care technology and strong background in Respiratory Care. 3 yrs. clinical Experience and knowledge.
