Underwriter OR Underwriting Specialist - Group Captives

Zurich Insurance is currently looking to hire an Underwriter for our Group Captives Team (Underwriter or Underwriting Specialist level) in our Schaumburg office or US Remote location. As one of the leaders in this space, we work together with the largest captives consultants in the U.S. to deliver a wide range of services to member-owned, agency and other (fronted) captives. This role will be filled at either the Underwriter or Underwriting Specialist level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.  In this role you will be responsible for:  Performing all risk assessments and pricing on new businessPerform renewal activities for captives assignedAttend board meetingsHelp with the daily administrative requests that come in on policy maintenanceManage broker and captive consultant interactionsTravel at least 15% or more internationally Basic Qualifications Underwriter – Group Captives: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Market Facing area.ORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaANDKnowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environmentKnowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines OR Basic Qualifications: Underwriting Specialist – Group Captives:High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.ORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area ORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaANDKnowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelinesKnowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal businessExperience with Microsoft OfficePreferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degreeStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong negotiation skillsUnderwriting/Insurance exposure to Casualty or Liability Lines  Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. The combined salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $125,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Underwriter is $60,000.00 - $95,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
