This role provides leadership to technicians and support staff while ensuring customer satisfaction, revenue growth, safety compliance, and high‑quality service delivery of water‑based fire protection systems.How you will do it Financial & Revenue ResponsibilityManage the Sprinkler Department to an approved financial plan, including operating expenses, labor, inventory, capital, and accounts receivable/collectionsOwn departmental P&L with responsibility for revenue growth, margin performance, and profitabilityImplement plans, programs, and processes to meet or exceed corporate goals and maximize market potential across all service segmentsDrive new service bookings and expansion of existing customer accountsCustomer Satisfaction & Service DeliveryMaintain strong customer relationships from initial engagement through service execution and contract fulfillmentEnsure service commitments and contractual obligations are consistently metResolve customer concerns related to service quality, scheduling, billing, and collections in a timely mannerCommunicate effectively with customers, internal teams, and leadership to ensure satisfaction and retentionLeadership, Staffing & Employee DevelopmentHire, train, organize, and develop technicians and support staff into a high‑performing, cohesive teamEstablish fair technician territories and workloads to optimize productivity and service responseSet performance expectations, monitor results, and coach employees to meet or exceed objectivesIdentify training needs in technical skills, sales awareness, customer service, and product knowledgeParticipate in technician ride‑alongs to evaluate safety compliance, productivity, performance, and technical capabilityMaintain open communication across departments to foster teamwork, morale, and accountabilityEnsure all employees understand and comply with company policies and proceduresSafety & ComplianceEnforce all Johnson Controls corporate safety programs and EH&S policiesEnsure safety training is thorough, current, and documented for all employeesConduct workplace accident investigations and corrective actions as requiredIdentify safety hazards and coordinate corrective measures with the corporate safety teamPromote a culture of safety, accountability, and risk awarenessTechnical & Operational Oversight (as needed)Support servicing and troubleshooting of wet, dry, pre‑action sprinkler systems, fire pumps, backflows, and related water‑based fire protection systemsReview and interpret complex construction blueprints, diagrams, and specificationsOversee repair work and internal inspections to ensure quality and complianceProvide technical guidance to technicians when requiredAdministrative & Operational ExpectationsProficiency with computers and mobile technology, including Word, Excel, Outlook, CRM systems, and iPhone applicationsReview and approve time reports, service documentation, and operational reportsCommunicate schedule changes, discrepancies, or coordination issues to dispatch and managementMaintain safe, clean, and organized work areasEnsure proper use, storage, and security of tools, vehicles, and equipmentAvailability to work alternate shifts, weekends, and rotational on‑call coverage as requiredPerform additional duties as assigned by the Fire Service ManagerPhysical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 60 poundsAbility to climb ladders, scaffolding, and operate lifts up to 40 feet or higherRequired use of PPE including hard hat/bump cap, safety glasses, gloves, face mask, and safety‑toed bootsCompliance with all job site safety and housekeeping standardsWhat we look for Required Minimum 7 years experience with water‑based fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre‑action, hydrants, backflows)Minimum 3 to 5 years supervisory or management experience with revenue and margin responsibilityNICET Level II in Water‑Based Systems (or higher)Strong leadership, organizational, and team‑building skillsExcellent verbal and written communication abilitiesAbility to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environmentCustomer‑focused mindset with experience in high‑volume service environmentsAction‑oriented, accountable, punctual, and detail‑orientedPositive attitude and strong work ethicPreferredBachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experienceAdditional NICET certifications (Fire Alarm or Special Hazards)Experience managing large service territories or high‑revenue departmentsHIRING SALARY RANGE: $76,000 to $105,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
