Position SummaryThe Sonographer II performs advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures across assigned specialties, providing high-quality imaging and clinical information to physicians for interpretation. This role demonstrates clinical expertise, critical thinking, and strong patient care skills while supporting Novant Health’s commitment to remarkable patient experiences.Sonographer II professionals often serve as experienced imaging team members, providing guidance to Sonographer I staff and contributing to departmental excellence. Graduate of ARRT-approved Program or CAAHEP-recognized Sonography Program, required.Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in vascular sonography, required.Licensure/Certification: Certified and registered by ARRT in Vascular Sonography or certified and registered by ARDMS in Vascular Technology or certified and registered by CCI in Vascular Specialist RT(S)(VS), or RDMS,RT(VS) or RDMS,RVT,VT, or RT(S)(RVS), RDMS,(RVS), required.Additional Skills/Requirements (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing Possess good communication skills Capability to function alone and work independently in diagnostic rooms Has working knowledge of various types of ultrasound equipment Able to adapt to new and various situations and procedures according to age of patient served Has ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs Basic computer skills What You'll Do: What We’re Looking For:ARRT (S) or ARDMS certification (within 6 months of hire)Prior acute care experience preferredStrong communication skills and attention to detailKey Responsibilities• Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams following physician orders and departmental protocols• Utilize sound clinical judgment to capture optimal images for accurate interpretation• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while ensuring comfort and safety• Document patient information accurately and maintain thorough imaging records• Collaborate with radiologists, cardiologists, physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams• Maintain knowledge of emerging ultrasound technologies and best practices• Assist with workflow efficiency and support quality improvement initiatives• Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards
