This role plays a critical part in maintaining regulatory compliance, minimizing risk, and ensuring adherence to U.S. Customs laws, company policies, and internal control requirements. The position requires a high degree of diligence, independent judgment, attention to detail, and cross‑functional collaboration.What You’ll Work OnPerform post‑export, Sample Machinery Shipment and 48‑hour reviews in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and Abbott Global Trade Compliance (GTC) policiesConduct machinery and sample audits, including review of tariff classifications, EEI filings, valuation, country of origin, and supporting documentationValidate import and export records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controlsIdentify discrepancies, trends, and potential compliance risks; support root‑cause analysis and development of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)Support internal and external audits, regulatory disclosures, and responses to CBP or other government agency inquiriesPartner with internal stakeholders, including logistics, supply chain, brokers, and trade compliance teams, to resolve issues efficiently and accuratelyReview customs broker invoices, validate charges, and process payments in accordance with Abbott financial and compliance proceduresMaintain clear, complete, and audit‑ready documentation in alignment with Abbott record retention and documentation standardsContribute to continuous improvement initiatives by reducing errors, rework, and process inefficienciesModel Abbott’s values by demonstrating integrity, accountability, and a compliance‑focused mindset in all activitiesQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent, and/orMinimum of 2 years of experience performing post export audits, or trade compliance related activitiesExperience supporting customs audits, machinery/sample reviews, or broker management activities preferredStrong attention to detail with a commitment to first time accuracy and minimal reworkAbility to work independently while exercising sound judgment and accountabilityProven problem-solving skills and analytical mindsetEffective written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesDemonstrated ability to collaborate as a team player across functionsDiligent, reliable, and results driven with a compliance first mindsetThe base pay for this position is $24.65 – $49.25 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
