At Astound, we believe in creating astounding possibilities for everyone, everywhere.A Day in the Life of the Field Deployment Technician I or II:The Field Deployment Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network equipment including microwave and millimeter-wave radios, routers, switches, fiber and copper cabling, and Wi"‘Fi systems, both indoors and outdoors. The position requires working at heights, participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation, performing site surveys, documenting as-builts, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates will have hands-on networking experience, strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments, and a valid driver's license.Perform installations, troubleshoot and repair of Astound Broadband Powered by Wave infrastructure including network connections from microwave and millimeter-wave radio headend to backbone equipment/hardware (interior and exterior)Part of a 24/7 on-call rotationPerform connects and disconnects, upgrades, downgrades, and relocates; install additional hand-offs and install or remove equipmentNetwork Equipment Installation and Troubleshooting:Radio installation - microwave and millimeter-wave equipment.Routers and SwitchesCable Placement -Terminations and Splicing - Optical fiber and copperWi-Fi Equipment - indoor-outdoorBasic DC/AC installation, knowledge and best practices As-Builts and Documentation - Create build history/document and upload to the internal WikiPerform Site SurveyVarious tasks and special projects assigned by manager associated with the organization and company with the emphasis of driving efficiency and optimizationWhat You Bring to the Table: Required to work at heights installing telecom equipment/materials RF awareness preferred (will certify)Basic to Intermediate experience is required in the following areas:Physical, data-link and network protocols and architecturesRoutersFirewalls and switchesSystem load balancing and redundant system architecture.Able to set up and or design simple to complex network involving wireless equipment, Cisco switches and routersDemonstrates ability to diagnose and solve problemsExhibits the ability to follow direction and possesses the ability to follow throughMust enjoy the challenge of technical concepts and communicate those concepts at varying levelsBasic experience with LAN and WAN TechnologyAbility to comply with all Company implemented safety proceduresKnowledge of basic mathematics and electronicsVision ability: close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focusStrong attention to detail with excellent time management and organization skillsBasic knowledge of DC components and best practicesBasic understanding of the physical network layer, CAT 5e/6, 66 blocks, 110 blocks, patch panels, fiber optic cables, etc.Ability to work in fast-paced and dynamic environments with limited supervisionAbility to work independentlyAbility to work while standing 50 - 70% of the timeAbility to work with small components and wires to make cable connectionsAbility to make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twistingAbility to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wiresAbility to lift 50lbs repeatedlyMust have the ability to communicate by telephone, correspondence, and in personMust possess a good command of the English language, including excellent enunciation, grammar and lack of slangMust possess a Valid driver's licenseEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent required.We're Proud to Offer a Comprehensive Benefits Package Including:401k retirement plan, with employer matchInsurance options including: medical, dental, vision, life and STD insurancePaid Time Off/Vacation: Starting at 80 hours per year, and increases based on tenure with the organizationFloating Holiday: 40 hours per yearPaid Holidays: 7 days per yearPaid Sick Leave: Astound allows a number of paid sick hours per calendar year and varies based on state and/or local lawsTuition reimbursement programEmployee discount program*Benefits listed above are for regular full-time positionBase Salary: The base salary range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hour plus opportunities for benefits.
