Position: Carrier Sales RepresentativeCompensation: $65,000 annuallySchedule: 3pm - 11pm M-FJob Description: As a Carrier Sales Representative, you will develop relationships with carriers to source, negotiate and secure the capacity to move available freight for Forward Air and our customers in a timely and cost-effective manner. A Carrier Sales Representative manages all activities related to the procurement of carriers, from prospecting new carriers to utilizing capacity with partner carriers and working to understand how Forward Air can help our carrier partners grow. This is a fast paced, high-energy role where you can make an immediate impact and have tremendous growth opportunity.Core Responsibilities & Duties: Cultivate strong core carrier relationships, learning our carriers' preferred lanes and operationsProspecting new carriers through individual research and carrier lead listsMaking outbound calls to carriers to gather available capacity and book loads with carriersNegotiate transactional rates for carriers based on the market, and work with carriers on long term rates when and where appropriateMaintain continuous communication with carriers and customer account managers to ensure outstanding customer service for our carriers and customersOther duties as assignedQualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a “can do” attitude with a “will do” work ethic who is not afraid to go beyond every day for themselves and Forward AirSolutions Oriented team player who will ask questions, offer solutions, and step up to help othersSelf-motivated problem-solver with fervent desire to meet carrier and customer needs Willing to proactively reach out to carriers on the phone; both cold calls and relationship calls are vital to the success of a Carrier Sales RepresentativeProactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departmentsComfortable taking calculated risks and learning quickly from your success and short falls.
