Trailer Mechanic

Position: Trailer Mechanic Pay: Up to $32 per hour Schedule: Sun - Tues 6am - 6pm and Wednesday 6am - noon Job Description: Forward Air is looking for a self-motivated individual to join the maintenance team as a full-time Trailer Mechanic. Duties include maintaining all aspects of vehicles, trailers, and other mechanical equipment of Forward Air. This individual will be expected to do this while adhering to the compliance of all FA Policies, safe work practices, and maintaining high customer service. Core Responsibilities & Duties:Evaluate status of mechanical equipment, and trailersMaintain equipment according to DOT regulationsPerform minor trailer repairsPerform tire mounting/dismounting and repairsPerform minor cosmetic repairsConduct various analysis and inspections of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical systems to determine the most cost-effective means of maintenance, repair, or replacementMaintain regular and dependable attendanceMaintain work area, tools, and equipmentOperate a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven toolsPerform minor building and facility maintenancePerform data entry in Maintenance Software to track repairsKeep shop and company tools clean and in good working orderOther duties as assignedQualifications:Valid Driver's License requiredPrior experience with truck, trailer, and/or vehicle repairStrong mechanical aptitudeDesire for a long-term career with an industry leading companyAbility to present and maintain a positive corporate image in a fast-paced environmentProactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departmentsMust be willing to work a flexible schedule (extended hours as required)Must have basic set of toolsSkills:The ideal candidate will possess a “can do" attitude with a “will do" work ethicMust have the ability to work in a fast-paced environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsForward Air is an Equal Opportunity employer.
