Charter Manufacturing is a fourth-generation family-owned business where our will to grow drives us to do it better.  Join the team and become part of our family!Equipment MechanicThe Equipment Mechanic performs mechanical and basic electrical repair on equipment and cranes, including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and responding to breakdowns. This role also performs welding and fabrication work as needed and supports the maintenance team with additional duties as assigned.Schedule:Monday – Friday: 5:00 AM – 4:00 PMSaturday: 5:00 AM – 12:00 PMLocation: 700 S Main St, Niles, OHPhysical RequirementsAbility to perform prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas.Lifting and carrying weight exceeding 50 lbs. Occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as provided in detail in the Job Analysis Database.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED equivalentThree plus years’ industrial maintenance experience or equivalent experience.Experience in machining, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, plumbing, power transmission (including bearings, gearing, conveyors, fans, shaft alignment, sprockets and couplings), basic electrical, blueprint reading (including interpreting mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics), cranes and troubleshooting/repair.Experience and proficient use of maintenance equipment and tools including metal working, drill presses, saws, and grinders.Demonstrated industry standard rigging and lifting procedures.Ability to operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, pendant and overhead traveling cranes, and aerial lift platforms in a safe and professional manner.Ability to use a wide range of precision measuring tools including, but not limited to, micrometers and calipers.Ability to read and understand and follow operating and maintenance instructionsAbility to use technical manuals/catalogs to reference replacement parts.Ability to use basic math skillsGood written and verbal communicationProven ability to troubleshoot and problem-solveDemonstrated good housekeeping practices and 5S principles.Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.Demonstrated commitment to safe working behaviors including lockout, fall protection, confined space and mobile equipment operation.Ability to work in all weather conditions.Preferred QualificationsBasic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, machine installation, welding, and pipefitting.Five plus years of mechanical and electrical repair experience.Safety awareness training.Major AccountabilitiesPerform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair of baling, shearing, and crane equipment when breakdowns occur.Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify maintenance issues and ensure safe operation.Perform welding and fabrication as needed.Complete preventative maintenance as needed.Perform other general repair work as needed.Assist other maintenance technicians with repairs and maintenance assignments.Perform routine housekeeping duties related to tools, materials, shop, and work areas.Ensure all safety devices on equipment are in good working order.Maintain accurate records of time, maintenance orders, and parts usage on a computer or tablet.Help create a safe work environment and contribute to a culture focused on safety, continuous improvement, teamwork, and trust.#appcast250We offer comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits, along with a 401(k) plan that includes employer matching and profit sharing.
