RWJBarnabas Health and Childrens Specialized Hospital, the nation's leading provider of inpatient and outpatient care for children with special health needs, are seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP), Inpatient Medical Services to join our executive physician leadership team in New Brunswick, NJ. This is a unique leadership opportunity combining strategic vision with hands-on clinical practice (70% clinical, 30% administrative) at one of the most respected pediatric rehabilitation hospitals in the country. The AVP will guide the continued excellence of our inpatient medical services, balancing high-quality clinical care with administrative leadership focused on operational efficiency, performance improvement, and interdepartmental collaboration. Position Highlights: Key leadership role with oversight of medical team performance, strategy, and quality of care Blend of direct patient care and administrative responsibilities (70%30% split) Collaborate with hospital leadership and interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and outcomes Lead efforts to improve provider workflow, length of stay, and provider efficiency Mentor and evaluate physicians and advanced practice providers Champion evidence-based care, continuous quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives Participate in budget planning, resource allocation, and policy development Represent the medical team in executive decision-making and strategic initiatives Highly visible leadership opportunity within the RWJBarnabas Health system Candidate Requirements: MD or DO, Board Certified in Pediatrics; experience in critical care or complex care preferred NJ medical license or eligibility to obtain one AHA BLS and PALS certifications required Graduate degree in business, management, or medical management strongly preferred Demonstrated experience in healthcare operations, performance improvement, and physician leadership Strong communication skills and a passion for patient-centered care and professional development The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is $240,000 to $300,000 per year.
