The Memphis VA Medical Center, Specialty Care Clinic, located in Memphis, TN is seeking a Chief of Cardiology. This leadership opportunity comes with an academic affiliation with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and oversees the cardiology clinic while teaching and advising residents and fellows. This position reports directly to the Chief of Specialty Care. The medical center is located on the Bluff of the Mississippi River in the Memphis metropolitan area. Memphis is considered the Mid-South hub of the United States and is known as the birthplace of Blues, Rock & Roll, as well as the home of the NBA team-Memphis Grizzlies. So come and sit a spell! Duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the administration and supervision of staff physicians, nurses, clinicians, and technicians within the Cardiology Clinic. Clinical practice, supervising and teaching cardiology fellows, residents, and medical students. Provide consultation on various forms of cardiovascular disease states, both for diagnosis and treatment in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Diagnoses and treats heart and blook vessel conditions. Perform and interpret cardiac catheterization procedures as well as diagnostic and interventional coronary and peripheral procedures. Assist with non-invasive procedures such as stress tests, trans-thoracic or trans-esophageal echocardiograms. Share attending call responsibilities with the other cardiologists in covering some night, weekend, and holiday calls as needed. Lead and manage the CardiologyCoronary Car Unit (CCU) team consisting of Cardiology fellows, Internal Medicine Residents, Medical Students, Pharmacists, and mid-level providers while on the inpatient service. Give didactic lectures to Cardiology fellows and participate in academic activities such as journal review, grand rounds, conferences, and lectures.
