Responsibilities17.6.5 An APPRENTICE METERMAN is an employee who, depending upon his ability and training: (a) does routine testing of residential meters; (b) does instrument transformer and meter wiring in the shop; (c) reads demand meters and changes charts and tapes; and (d) performs any of the duties listed under Section 17.6.4 and under the supervision of a Meter Foreman, Journeyman Meterman or an Electrician. On a case by case basis, by location, the Union, Company and Meter Foreman will review the skill sets of the apprentice and allow the apprentice to perform work for which the parties agree the apprentice is qualified. RequirementsHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Must have received a passing score of 7 or higher on the NJATC examination.Candidate must pass all Apprentice Aptitude Tests. Valid Driver's License with a safe driving record.This position requires a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job. The screening will assess only the identified physical demands of the job being applied for. Physical Demands The job duties of Meterman require lifting in 42 lbs from floor to waist and waist to overhead, carrying in 42 lbs with one hand, and ladder climbing. Job duties of the Meterman require awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck while sitting and standing; reaching forward, to the side, across the body, and overhead; squatting and kneeling.
