One of the South's fastest-growing law firms is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Veterans Affairs Department. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong writing skills, able to manage a high-volume caseload with minimal supervision.To be considered for an interview, please make sure your application is full in line with the job specs as found below.We welcome applications from:* *Attorneys* in good standing with _any_ U.S. State Bar who also maintain accreditation with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, *or** *Non-lawyer VA Accredited Claims Agents* with relevant experience in veterans' benefits law.*Responsibilities:** Draft, review, and edit briefs for submission to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)* Manage multiple cases from inception through resolution, ensuring timely and thorough documentation in case management software* Research laws, regulations, and precedents related to veterans' benefits and disability claims* Prepare and file appeals, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with the VA and, where applicable, federal courts* Draft legal memoranda and correspondence* Communicate with clients, including veterans and their families, to explain legal options, provide updates, and manage expectations* Represent clients in VA hearings and potentially in court* Engage in settlement negotiations when appropriate* Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals* Stay informed on developments in veterans' benefits law* Analyze case facts and evidence to develop effective legal arguments*Qualifications:** *For Attorneys:* Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school, active membership in good standing with _any_ State Bar, and current accreditation with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs* *For Non-lawyer Candidates:* Must be a VA Accredited Claims Agent in good standing* Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills* Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines* Knowledge of veterans' benefits law and procedures*Work Location:** Hybrid work but can be fully remote, if necessary*Compensation:** Competitive salary plus incentives* Benefits package including health and dental insurance, 401k eligibility and paid time off/holidaysJob Type: Full-timeBenefits:* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Paid time offWork Location: Hybrid remote in Birmingham, AL 35243
