Designers should have well rounded experience in all aspects of projects and looking for growth and opportunity to take on more responsibility within projects.The Designers are the backbone of PDG and must demonstrate consistent performance at varying levels of responsibility in design, project leadership and technical competence. They are sought after by clients for their skills and are seen as resources on the team because of their reliable work and design knowledge.While Designers are the project support in the office, PDG prides itself on being flexible and nimble in addressing projects and tasks. At times, everyone needs to pitch in depending on the circumstances and fill gaps within the entire organization. You may be asked to assist with more mundane tasks (e.g., help another designer meet a deadline or select paint colors for a project you are not assigned to normally). We value an ego-less approach to the pursuit of good design.The goal of the Designer is to actively improve their knowledge base and skill sets; taking on more responsibility by learning the methods and work requirements of those more experienced members of the team; and to support and manage others in the design process. Significant talents in design, delivery, or organizational management should be evident both to the individual and to those working with him/her during this level of professional practice. An awareness of personal strengths and interests should be guiding the individual toward appropriate roles and office/team/project contributions.Delivering an exceptional experience requires exceptional communication. Our team takes delivering an exceptional experience to them very seriously and regularly go above and beyond to make that happen.*Position Responsibilities*Designers at PDG are not simply creatives, but are passionate about delivering exceptional client service and demonstrate strong leadership skills to ensure our clients receive unparalleled service as they work with PDG. The following outlines critical activities that are generally required for each of our Design roles.*Project Management** Helps develop design strategy and project goals* Can serve as the primary project team contact for clients and consultants depending on project scale* Researches code and liability restrictions* Effectively coordinates meeting notes, design agendas, and client correspondence* Supports in delivering overall client satisfaction for each project*Design** Adds value to design concepts* Accurately picks up redlined work and highlights work done* Operates as a draftsperson under the supervision of others; including documenting existing conditions and field measurements* Displays attention to detail (spelling, misalignment, fixes errors)* Produces finish board and Image/Concept board layout and production* Digital modeling of sketch options* Convey design ideas with plans, elevations, etc.* Able to take existing drawings and input into Revit or CAD* Maintains Construction Administration logs and drawing sets* Able to develop contacts with industry reps and partners* Programming and conceptual design support* CAD/Revit drafting and visualization skills, Sketch-up, Photoshop, etc.* Integral in the pursuit of great work through design studies and presentation* Producing renderings for presentations* Presentation of design materials* Able to understand the organization and components of a SD, DD and CD set* Performs assignments including basic plans, elevations, renderings, square foot calculations, materials investigations and understands where those fall within a project* Implements design direction according to concept design principles and project goals* Talented in design visualization in one or multiple genres* Exhibits flexibility and creativity in overcoming design obstacles and problem solving* Produces project work that shows consistency with the design direction* Articulates project wide design ideas and direction to others.*Project Execution** Develops details independently and applies them to execute the design intent.* Evaluates materials, products and construction systems based on project cost impact and appropriateness* Takes responsibility for clear, concise and accurate design development and construction documentation.* Produces or assists in the production of cartoon sets, redlines sets, and checklists for team members*Computer Skills** Digital file management and standards* AutoCAD/Revit - building information modeling* Sketch-up - 3d Modeling and Photoshop - image editing* Outlook, email and meeting organizing* Microsoft Office Suite - Word and Excel spreadsheets*Additional Requirements*Most candidates for this position will satisfy the following requirements:* Minimum recommended professional experience: 6 years* Professional degree from an Accredited Institution* Strong design, management, and delivery skills* Evident team leadership ability* Able to work in a team* Clear communication and responsiveness to the leadership, junior members of the team, clients, vendors/contractors* Marketing actively and making connections - build the network* Must exhibit a thorough working knowledge of the practice of design, with demonstrated capability in the areas of design, management and technical proficiency* Must demonstrate a high level of credibility and reliability to both senior and junior staff as well as to the client* Responsible for the development of design and CDs for the entire project, coordination with consultant services, preparation of presentations to the client and supervision of junior personnel; as required* Actively participate in the organization and continuing professional educationJob Type: Full-timePay: From $60,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* Dental insurance* Flexible spending account* Health insurance* Health savings account* Life insurance* Paid time off* Vision insuranceSchedule:* 8 hour shiftApplication Question(s):* Please provide relevant work examples.Ability to Commute:* Boston, MA 02118 (Required)Ability to Relocate:* Boston, MA 02118: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
