Applicants must be currently certified by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Service.This position involves non-supervisory general duty police work involving the protection of life and property through enforcement of laws and ordinances. Patrols areas of the Town; apprehends criminals and offenders; enforces traffic laws; responds to calls for service and complaints from citizens involving accidents, misdemeanors and felonies; conducts accident and criminal investigation; gathers evidence; interviews suspects and witnesses; writes reports; makes arrests as required; testifies as witness in court and other related police duties. Shifts are 12 hours in duration.*Required Qualifications** Virginia DCJS Certified Law Enforcement Officer* U.S. Citizen* Be of character and reputation to pass an extensive background investigation*Preferred Qualifications** Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field* Bilingual in English/Spanish.Selection process will include an initial interview, background investigation, polygraph, and psychological evaluation, physical and oral board.
