The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, Third Judicial Department, is currently seeking applicants for an Attorney in the Court's Admission Office. The position will be filled in one of the following titles and will be dependent on the qualifications and experience of the applicant selected: Senior Appellate Court Attorney, Appellate Court Attorney, or Assistant Court Attorney.If you would like to know a bit more about this opportunity, or are considering applying, then please read the following job information.This position is in the Court's Office of Attorney Admissions and assists in the administration and processing of various applications related to the practice of law in New York, including character and fitness applications, in-house counsel registrations, licensing as a legal consultant, 18-month pro hac vice admissions and applications for the approval of law intern programs. Key Responsibilities:Reviewing applicant qualifications.Preparing memoranda for consideration by the Court and the Court's Committees on Character and Fitness.Assisting the individual Justices of the Court in the drafting of Court decisions in certain admissions cases.Regularly interact with the Court, the Committees on Character and Fitness.Respond daily to applicant inquiries related to the practice of law in New York. This position may be eligible for 20% remote work as part of pilot program; eligibility is at the discretion of the Court and the Office of Attorney Admissions and may be subject to change based upon the needs of the Court. Qualifications: Senior Appellate Court Attorney: Admission to the New York State Bar; and Two years of service in the Appellate Court Attorney title; or Equivalent legal experience. Base Salary: $110,853Appellate Court Attorney: Admission to the New York State Bar. Base Salary: $99,490Assistant Appellate Court Attorney: Graduation from an accredited law school with an exceptional record of academic achievement such as being a member of the law review, graduating on the top 10% of the class or graduating cum laude or magna cum laude, and admission to the New York State Bar withing eighteen months of appointment.
