This opportunity seeks a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to provide specialized support within a K-12 educational setting in Bedford, VA. The position is a contract role for the 2025-2026 school year, focusing on enhancing the independence and mobility of students with visual impairments.Are you the right candidate for this opportunity Make sure to read the full description below.Key Responsibilities:Deliver orientation and mobility services tailored to the needs of four students across elementary, middle, and high school levels.Provide weekly sessions for two students requiring consistent support.Conduct bi-weekly sessions for the remaining two students.Develop individualized strategies to improve students' navigation skills and confidence in various environments.Collaborate with educational staff and families to integrate mobility goals with overall student development plans.Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and service delivery.Qualifications:Valid Orientation and Mobility Specialist certification/license in the state of Virginia.Experience working with K-12 students requiring orientation and mobility support.Strong understanding of techniques and tools to assist visually impaired students.Ability to manage a caseload of diverse student needs and deliver consistent, effective services.Excellent communication and collaboration skills with educators and families.Location:Bedford, VASchedule:Position begins August 13, 2025, and ends May 30, 2026.Approximately 8 hours per month based on caseload requirements.This contract role offers a meaningful chance to improve the everyday experiences and independence of students with visual impairments.
