A full-time Sign Language Interpreter is needed to support an elementary student in a K-12 school setting starting August 7, 2025, through May 20, 2025. This contract position requires daily work from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., totaling 35 hours per week. The interpreter will travel exclusively with the student throughout their daily activities and classes, providing direct communication access.Find out if this opportunity is a good fit by reading all of the information that follows below.Key Responsibilities:Facilitate communication between the student and teachers, peers, and staff using American Sign Language (ASL).Accompany the student to all classes and school-related activities to ensure full access to instruction and social interaction.Assist with interpreting during meetings, presentations, and other educational events as needed.Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times in the school environment.Collaborate with educational staff to support the students learning and participation.Qualifications and Experience:Proficiency in American Sign Language, demonstrated through previous interpreting experience.Experience working with K-12 students, preferably with elementary-aged children.Ability to maintain focus and provide consistent, clear interpretation throughout the school day.Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to advocate for the students communication needs.Previous experience in educational settings is highly beneficial.Location:Position is based in Lawrenceville, VA, within a K-12 school.This role is ideal for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter passionate about supporting the educational experience of a young student through direct communication access.
