The OMS will collaborate closely with the special education team to provide tailored mobility services, helping students with visual impairments navigate both school and community environments confidently.Key Responsibilities: Deliver individualized orientation and mobility instruction to two students during the academic year Conduct ten 1-hour sessions annually with a 6th-grade student Provide three 1-hour sessions per month for an 11th-grade student Collaborate with special education staff and families to integrate mobility skills across settings Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to meet evolving needs Qualifications: Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) credential required Experience working with school-aged children preferred Strong communication and teamwork abilities essential Background clearance and necessary licensure must be obtained prior to start Benefits include gaining valuable experience in specialized educational support within a contract, part-time role.If you are committed to fostering student independence through orientation and mobility services, this position offers a rewarding chance to make a meaningful impact.
