An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in a dynamic school setting. This full-time, in-person role focuses on providing seamless communication access to students across multiple school levels, including high school, middle school, and elementary, all located in close proximity. The assignment runs from ASAP through May 28, 2026, ensuring consistent support throughout the school year.You can get further details about the nature of this opening, and what is expected from applicants, by reading the below.Key Responsibilities:Facilitate effective communication between Deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff in a classroom environment.Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during instructional activities, meetings, and events.Adapt interpretation methods to meet the diverse needs of students across various grade levels.Collaborate with educators and support staff to promote inclusive learning environments.Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all communication interactions.Qualifications and Experience:Minimum 3.5 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA).Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting, preferably K-12.Strong knowledge of ASL and excellent interpreting skills to support diverse educational content.Ability to work full-time hours, 7:20 a.m. to 2:50 p.m., with dedication and flexibility.Commitment to fostering accessible and inclusive educational experiences for all students.Location:Position is based in York, PA with direct assignments potentially spanning a closely situated high school, middle school, and elementary school within the Spring Grove Area School District.Benefits:Opportunity to engage deeply with a school community dedicated to inclusive education.Gain valuable experience within a full-time contract role for the current school year.Collaborate with a team of professionals focused on student success and accessibility.Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply promptly to contribute their expertise in facilitating communication for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
