A K-12 educational opportunity is available for an experienced Sign Language Interpreter specializing in American Sign Language (ASL) to support a student who is deaf or hard of hearing. This contract position spans the 2025-2026 school year and is based in the Wellsboro, PA area.Have you got the right qualifications and skills for this job Find out below, and hit apply to be considered.Key Responsibilities:Facilitate clear and accurate communication between the student and hearing peers, teachers, and school staff.Translate spoken English into ASL and interpret ASL back into English to ensure the student has full access to the educational environment.Support equal participation by providing timely, professional interpreting services throughout the school day.Qualifications:Minimum Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher, OR full certification (non-provisional) through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).Prior experience working in K-12 educational settings preferred.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with educators and school personnel.Candidates with experience as an ASL paraprofessional may be considered but certification is strongly preferred.Position Details:Location: Wellsboro, PAContract duration: August 20, 2025 June 4, 2026Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (approximately 6.57 hours daily, 32.535 hours weekly)Role type: Contract for the 2025-2026 school yearBenefits:Health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement planWeekly pay scheduleThis role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing vital communication access within the educational setting.
