Augusta Tower Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Directional Drill Operator / Crew Leader to operate horizontal directional drilling equipment and lead a 3-person crew in the installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure.If the following job requirements and experience match your skills, please ensure you apply promptly.This role is hands-on: you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating the drill, coordinating daily tasks with your crew, and ensuring that work is completed to specification. The ideal candidate has proven experience running Vermeer drills, knowledge of underground telecom installation practices, and the ability to lead a small team in the field.What We OfferCompetitive pay: $26–$33 (based on experience)Full medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus a 401(k) with company match$60 daily per diem and company-paid hotel accommodationsOngoing paid training and certification renewalsClear paths for advancement within a stable, growing companyCompensation:$26 - $33 hourlyResponsibilities:Drilling & Equipment OperationSafely operate horizontal directional drills (Vermeer) to install conduit, cable, and utilities undergroundWork closely with the Locator to guide drilling depths, monitor progress, and avoid damage to existing utilitiesOperate and oversee additional heavy equipment such as trenchers, mini excavators, cable plows, and dump trucksPerform daily inspections and routine maintenance on drilling equipment, mixing units, and other jobsite machineryTroubleshoot and resolve equipment or drilling issues in the fieldVerify installation accuracy against project specifications, blueprints, and mapsLeadership & Administrative DutiesServe as on-site crew leader, coordinating day-to-day work and ensuring efficient workflowDevelop and communicate daily work plans, bore shots, and project timelines with the crew and managementMaintain accurate jobsite documentation, including locate tickets, safety logs, and daily reportsTrain, mentor, and supervise crew members to ensure safe and productive operationsConduct job site assessments and verify all utilities are located and marked before work beginsAct as the primary point of contact with project managers and inspectors on job sitesConstruction & Safety DutiesAssist with potholing, remediation, setting handholes, pulling fiber, and related construction tasksInstall conduit into existing electrical and telecommunications systems when requiredEnforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company standardsSet up and dismantle barricades, signage, and traffic control measures to maintain safe work zonesRespond to outages, emergencies, or service disruptions as needed (occasional after-hours work may be required)Qualifications:Requirements & QualificationsMinimum of 3–5 years of directional drilling experience (telecommunications or utilities)Proven ability to lead crews in the field, with strong leadership and communication skillsExperience with Vermeer horizontal directional drills requiredStrong understanding of underground utility construction methods, equipment, and safety standardsAbility to pass background and drug screeningAbility to read and interpret blueprints, job specifications, and utility mapsMechanical aptitude, with the ability to perform basic equipment troubleshooting and repairsValid Class A CDL preferred; candidates without a CDL may obtain one at company expense.
